Manufacture (plan feature): define Bill Of Material at `/definitions/bom`, run Manufacture Orders at `/definitions/manufacture-order` with Start Manufacturing, and review Material Consumption and Production Cost reports. Finished products can show average manufacture cost on the Item Product Cost tab.
What is Manufacture?
Manufacture is a plan feature for producing finished goods from raw materials — define a Bill Of Material (BOM), raise Manufacture Orders, run Start Manufacturing, then review Material Consumption and Production Cost reports.
Screens you will use
- Bill Of Material (BOM) — `/definitions/bom` — finish product + raw material lines and quantities
- Manufacture Order — `/definitions/manufacture-order` — list, create, Start Manufacturing, and View when complete
- Material Consumption and Production Cost reports — planned vs actual usage and cost breakdown
- Finished goods and raw materials live under Item with stock types Finished Product and Raw Material
- Warehouse quantities move with Stock; plan limits are controlled in Settings and Subscription

Ideal for manufacturers
BOM recipes
Define which raw materials and quantities make one finished product.
Manufacture orders
Plan how many units to produce, then Start Manufacturing when ready.
Cost visibility
Track material, labor, overhead, and cost per unit after production.
Plan feature
Available on plans that include Manufacture — upgrade via Subscription if gated.
End-to-end path
- 1Create Finished Product and Raw Material items under Item
- 2Define a BOM for the finished product at `/definitions/bom`
- 3Create a Manufacture Order, then Start Manufacturing when status is pending
- 4Confirm materials, enter labor/overhead, save — then open Material Consumption and Production Cost reports
Quick map
If Manufacture is locked, open Subscription to check plan features. Complete item masters and stock balances before the first Start Manufacturing run so material confirmation matches the warehouse.
Frequently asked
Is Manufacture included on every plan?+
No. It is a plan feature. If menus or Start Manufacturing redirect, see Subscription for companies, users, barcode, manufacture, and AI limits.
Do I need Stock before manufacturing?+
Yes for accurate consumption. Keep raw material quantities current via Stock and Item opening balances so Planned vs Actual variance stays meaningful.

View featureMaterial Consumption & Production Cost
After Start Manufacturing, use Material Consumption (Planned vs Actual vs Variance) and Production Cost (Material, Labor, Overhead, Cost Per Unit). Finished items with a manufacture plan also show Product Cost on the Item.
View featureFinished Product & Product Cost
When a Finished Product has a manufacture plan, Billoxy shows Average cost on the Item Product Cost tab after manufacture runs — linking production cost back to the catalogue.
